I picked up Starters after reading the blurb and seeing the cover. Computer chips?! I am a programmer after all. I had to pick it up. And I am so glad I did. It was absolutely fascinating. I read it pretty much in one sitting and then moved over right to the short story she wrote after it.
The Portrait of a Starter was fun, too. And the premise of these books is different than all the other young adult novels.
It’s rare to find something new and different now and I appreciate it very much when I find it. So I loved it.
And I look forward to the second one.
thanks for the recommendation; I added this title on my Goodreads ‘to-read’ list! I didn’t like Hunger Games all that much, but really loved Divergent and Insurgent (another dystopian series), so this one sounds like it will be right up my alley.
it’s not nearly as amazing as those two but I still liked it 🙂
Happy New Year Karen! I was curious to know if you started reading the book this week or read it the same day?
what do you mean Jesa? do you mean the two books? the second one is just a connected short story. i read both of these a while ago.
Hello Karen! I meant the first book. I was under the impression that when you posted about a book you finished reading, the book had been read within the week time frame. Does my question make sense? 🙂
hmm. i think i understand…. i used to read these books within the week i posted them but then i got ahead a bunch so now i just post a book a week. some of them i read this week, some a long time ago. sometimes i read 5 books a week and sometimes i don’t read one for 4 weeks. i’ve let go of the idea of regulating that particular one 🙂 i hope this doesn’t disappoint you. this particular book was an easy read and if i remember correctly, i read it all in one sitting.
