I am growing more and more fond of our empty weekends. It means we can take our time, relax, and do things at our own pace. I started this morning with my exercise and then of course some family shots.
As always Nathaniel was running the show (even if he wasn’t looking at the camera himself).
He got devastated when I took the remote.
But not for long since it was tickle time!
then we all hung out and played and relaxed. I worked on my art journal on and off. I just got the pan pastels and I am officially in love.
Nathaniel napped, I worked to help Jake, read some of my book, and did some more art. Then it was time for all of us to go to Sunset Celebration Weekend since we had comped tickets. We walked around for a bit, ate some yummy food and then came back home. Nathaniel tackled David’s books to find all the car and train ones. His eye is much better, thankfully.
And David played Wii, of course.
That was pretty much our day. I’ve already started another art journal page. My fourth this week. They seem to take a long time and I am always unsure of whether it’s finished or whether i should add more. But I am learning. I am going to keep going until it feels more comfortable and I’ve tried lots of mediums.
Tonight I plan to rest and read. And then early sleep. Tomorrow, we rinse and repeat! yey!!
Three Things I’m Grateful For:
1. I am grateful for art journaling. For getting to play with and learning to use new mediums.
2. I am grateful for Nathaniel’s eye getting better so glad not to see it tearing up anymore.
3. I am grateful that I have another weekend day!!
Three Things David’s Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that we went to sunset celebration weekend. {* his pick for the journal}
2. I am grateful that I played with Daddy.
3. I am grateful that I played Wii.
Karen – I think your art journals are beautiful. what supplies do you use. I’d love to make some with my kids over the summer.
thanks.
I’ve been playing with pan pastels and liquitex acrylic ink! bottles. they are both amazing (for me.)
Great family photos again, love the tickling ones. So happy that Nathanial’s eye is better. I like the art page in the picture, is this for the 3 hearts class by Christie. This class does look neat. Have fun playing with your new art supplies.
thank you! yes, i am taking her class 🙂 My pages are all over the place, tho and not really inspired (content-wise) by the class as much as product-wise 🙂
Hi Karen,
Glad to hear the little guy is doing good. It is scary when their eyes are involved. We went through scratched cornea injuries a couple times with our boys when they were growing up too!
I love that you said that you never know if you’re finished w/your art journals–I go through that with my scrapbook pages! I am an accounting-minded person, so for work there is always a DONE moment. (My other accounting influence in my art is that it’s very hard for me to place things randomly–if I’m not really watching myself, I end up with rows and columns!) I am taking Claudine H’s composition class right now. I have already taken classes that talk about composition, but she is doing collage examples/homework, and that’s new for me, so I feel like I’m stretching a bit! I know your Soul Restoration 2 class either just started or starts soon–please let us know how that goes. I love the Brave Girls Club! I am going to take Soul Restoration 1 in July when it’s being offered again!
I’m having a quiet weekend too, and enjoying it a lot! I have so much going on at work, it’s lovely to just sit here and listen to the birds (ok, and my washing machine, not totally resting!)
Have a great rest of the weekend!
I am so excited you’re going to take SR!! You’ll have to tell me what you think. Are you liking CLaudine’s class?
Your photography is wonderful. I’m so jealous of the wonderful light you have in your house! I really like the start of these new art journal pages. i can’t wait to see what they become!
thanks so so much! post about my art journals is coming on Friday 🙂
