If I taught a class on setting and achieving goals would you be interested in taking that? It would be taught in a private blog setup by me, likely with daily posts. It would not be specific to scrapbooking or even art or any particular field. It would apply to any and all areas of your life.
Is this something you’d be interested in? If you’d let me know either way in the comments or by emailing me (karen AT karenika DOT com) I would very much appreciate it.
Also if you are interested, here are four other things I would like to know?
1. When would be an ok time for you to take the course. As in would mid/end of May be ok? How about summer? Or fall?
2. How long would you like it to be 2-3-4 weeks?
3. How much would you think is a comfortable price for you for such a class?
4. Is there any particular content in that area you’d want to make sure I cover.
Feel free to post answers to as many as you feel comfortable. Please don’t take it personally if I end up not doing what you might prefer. I am just trying to collect information and do the very best I can.
Love to participate in a class like this. It will be nice in summer and for several weeks. With a message board place for the participants and simple excersices to do along with each lesson. Maybe a support book to read along. Love your teaching style and admire your way to accomplish a lot/goals within your day. Have a great day!
I have been following your blog and would love a class like this, you have such a real way of sharing.
Summer, several weeks (since it sort of relates to habit formation in a way). Getting some goal setting ideas before another school year starts is appealing, so that is why summer makes sense. Right now, all of my commitments are coming to an end, and in a crazy way. So for me, mid-May seems too soon.
I haven’t ever paid for an online class, so I am not sure of the going rate for things. But I would be willing to pay since I know you, and the quality and effort you put into projects from following this blog. I am confident I would get my money’s worth!
Thanks for thinking of this!
Brooke

1. When would be an ok time for you to take the course. As in would mid/end of May be ok? How about summer? Or fall?
~~The end of May or early summer would be best for me.
2. How long would you like it to be 2-3-4 weeks?
~~I would prefer a longer class.
3. How much would you think is a comfortable price for you for such a class?
~~Maybe $25-$30?
4. Is there any particular content in that area you’d want to make sure I cover.
~~Staying motivated and tracking steps to completion
I would love taking another class with you. I always view September as the start of the year (too many years spent in the educational system!), so that makes sense to me, but I honestly would make the time whenever it is offered. I would prefer to see it as a 4 to 6 week course with only a once or twice a week connection or assignment. I like the idea of a support book to read along with it. I thought you did an amazing job of breaking down into a step-by-step process how to approach scrapbooking and from those handouts and reading your blog you have given a generalized approach to goal-setting, so I just think you will do an excellent job of sharing your approach to goal setting and maintaining motivation. I don’t think my budget could handle more than $40.00–$50.00, even though you are certainly worth more than that!
I’d take the class. I am booked up through mid June so no sooner then that. I’d like mid summer when we are into a routine or wait until fall with school going on. I agree with Cheri, 4 to 6 weeks with no more then one or two weekly assignments so as not to get overwhelmed. I’d like some content on staying motivated. I start strong but fizzle at the end. As for cost, I have taken a lot of classes from Big Picture Scrapbooking, your class included, so a price in line with those classes. TKS for asking!
Karen, this sounds very interesting to me. Any time is busy for me so that part wouldn’t make a difference as long as I could access the material..LOL!! Hmmm…2 weeks doesn’t seem very long so I would prefer something longer like the 3 or 4. Doesn’t it take so many days for something to become a “habit”?? So, if a goal was based around accomplishing something in a set amount of time, I am thinking that 2 weeks is not long enough. 🙂 Oh boy, particular area?? Let’s see, I can only speak for ME, and things that I am struggling with. I already go to the gym consistently but I struggle with making quick and healthy meals on the time. To cook more at home would be a goal of mine. Impulse shopping is very hard for me. To NOT do this is a huge goal of mine. (get out of debt!!) LOL! I want to be an art journaler but as a result of your rave reviews, I just signed up for an art journal class with Christy. hee hee… Your question is pretty vague so I’m not 100% sure what you are looking for. I could probably go on and on about things I’d like to accomplish but I guess it all boils down to GOAL SETTING regardless of what the end result may be. I LOVED your Finding your Way class so honestly, anything you present right now would probably feel like gold to me!! 🙂 As far as price, less than $25 sounds great to me. Did I mention the impulse shopping??
🙂 Thank you Karen!!
I would prefer to see it as a 5 to 8 week (need to develop a habit) course with only a once or twice a week connection or assignment. I like the idea of a support book to read along with it. I like a step-by-step process and handouts. I liked the class I took with Big Picture that you taught. $25-40, summer sounds good. Thank you
I would love to take a class on goals. Late summer to fall would be better for me. I like the idea of a 5 to 8 week class so the goals would become a habit. My big goal now is to become cancer free and then to but all my strength into becoming healthy!
I have become very particular about selecting classes. In the perfectionism class you wrote about signing up for a class with AE and it being too much. I had signed up for the same class and when I saw the responses I was shocked for I thought I was to slow to keep up. So I am very careful so I don’t make another $99.00 mistake.
For me having a class outline before signing up for the class would be helpful!
Cost $4 to $6 per week. So the length of the class would determine fee.
Hi Karen,
I know this would be an awesome class for you to teach because you get so much done in life already. Every time I read your blog it’s amazing how much you get done in a day based on little increments of time for them. I would not be upset if you didn’t give the class, no worries, it would be nice for you to have this info for a later time that might be better. I will do my best to answer the questions, I’ve only taken your last two classes at BPS so I’m new at this online class idea.
1. Sometime late June/begin of July would be good that way hopefully my habits will be there for when kids go to school
2. My goals list would be to not waste time, to make the most of my time while kids are gone all day so I can just play with them at night. Goals, on organizing, art journaling, sketching, scrapping, exercise, goals like how you read to David, I want goals for me and doing things with my kids, planning for the holidays, anything and everything would interest me.
3. I would like it to run at least 4 weeks but 6 or 8 weeks would be better. I know there is a saying somewhere about how long it takes to start a new habit? Can’t remember it.
4. One/two assignments per week, downloads, message board, like the idea about a book being made to remind us. Or another kind of project that would help us.
5. The price is a tough one for me, we are on a very very tight budget it would be nice if it was $30 or under and no more then $40 even though you are worth way more then that and I know it would be worth the money. It’s just the way the world is, can you believe those gas prices and my cereal went up 45cents and so did the ketchup and my soup I love to eat almost daily. So believe otherwise you are worth a pot of gold.
6. If you do this class please give ample notice so I could save a little and be ready for it, thank you
7. I would like an outline before class too just to see what it would be about
8. Oh yeah another goal idea would be for setting a budget and going by it, or saving at the grocery store, meal planning, saving for a rainy day. Sorry got sidetracked.
I think that answered all the questions. I’m just throwing it out there but I would still love love to have an art class by you too, I like that while you are learning new skills we would be learning right along with you. I’m trying to hold off on taking a art class but really want to. I even started my art journal and love it. Thanks for thinking of us and getting feedback from us. Would be great to have be in your class again.
Sincerely a fan forever
Dawn
Hi Karen!
Thanks for asking Karen! I have loved every one of your classes and am always interested in what you are teaching. This class however would not be of interest to me. I am a over-achiever when it comes goals, so I do not have a need for this subject. With that said, I bet it would be an amazing class taught by someone who achieves as much as you.
As a side note…I love your sketches, scrapbbok pages and your art journal pages. Is there anything you can’s do?
Becky
oh thank you for your kind words! there are so many many things i can’t do 🙂 🙂
This sounds interesting to me. Late summer to early Sept. would be a good starting point for me. And a longer course as it takes at least 21 days to form a habit. I like the idea of a companion book and only a couple assignments a week. As for cost, I think that would depend on the length of the class, but under $40.
