Cutting for Stone was the January book for my book club. This book was already on my list so I was excited to read it.
but the beginning dragged and dragged and dragged. It took me four weeks to get through the first 200 pages. I was really frustrated and stopped reading altogether for a while. Which made me sad. And mad at this book.
But then it got better.
And, as is often the case, I got hooked and by the end, I loved the book and I am really glad I read it. I do think half he book could be cut without much quality loss but I loved it nonetheless.
I am almost to the top of the hold list for this one…it is good to know I should stick with it at the beginning!
let me know what you think if you do read it. i’m curious 🙂
Isn’t that weird how some books are like that. They can be so boring & by the end one of your favorite books. One book, I almost quit several, several times was Host by Stephanie Meyer. In the end though, it was one of my favorite books simply because I could not stop thinking about it.
The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy was another one. I tried reading it in high school & just couldn’t get through it. Now it is at the very top of my all time favorite lists. I even re-read it which is very rare for me.
This is my March book club pick and I will have to read it in a week. EEKS!
oh jeez!! i do think you will like it though. it was quite a book. and i say skip the whole first scene (which is like 100+ pages) if you need to. the story gets so much better!
