the connection at the club is excruciatingly slow which is why i am not making any text entries, the photos are hard enough. yesterday was a long day, mostly spent in bed thus not that many photos. this is from fethiye from two days ago. turkish carpets are generally exquisite and sought-after, but i didn’t think these were exceptionally pretty. they still sell like hotcakes.
Karen,
How authentic are Turkish carpets nowadays, any idea? I imagine the craft that goes into the good ones are astonishing, but I also imagine a good many are produced cheaply overseas.
Or am I wrong? Don’t hesitate to tell me if I’m wrong; I’ll be pleasantly surprised if I am!
Hey, I just heard about a bomb blast in Istanbul on BBC. They didn’t say much, but I hope and pray people weren’t hurt. Are you and your family okay?
The world’s a scary place.. nothing is safe enough.
Lots of Love,
Annie
Elenita, that’s a good question and I don’t really know the answer to it. i do assume these are all hand-made since it’s cheaper to hand make than machine make in turkey though there’s definitely a difference in the quality of carpets depending where and from whom you buy.
Annie, the bombs were in Istanbul and Ankara and thankfully we’re fine, we weren’t anywhere near them. There’s a NATO conference here on Monday and President Bush and 50 some other leaders are going to be here so there’s been a lot of terrorist activity lately. thank you for thinking of us 🙂
Glad to know you and your loved ones are okay. And thanks for the answer.
I’m glad you and your family are fine 🙂 Btw, these carpets are really good… I didn’t see them earlier!
Id give my right eye for one of these carpets! Ok maybe I wouldnt go that far. 🙂 but they are stunning. Great shot too. Glad to hear you and yours are safe.
This reminds me of visiting carpet shops in Morocco a few years ago. Wonderful patterns and colours — nice shot.
