People either hate or love Groundhog Day stories. I’m in the “love” camp. I enjoy watching how a character grows, learns, lets go, and slowly understands. I love watching how a writer executes on these stories. I love seeing what finally starts breaking the spell. Rains’ novel was no exception. I loved her characters, I loved the way the stories intertwined and I loved how she grew and deepened her love, found herself and I loved the focus on love.
A lovely and wonderful christmastime book for lovers of repeat days like me.
with gratitude to edelweiss and Kensington for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
Lettering: You do not have to be good. You do not have to walk on your knees for a hundred miles through the desert repenting. You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves.
Listening: I have read every book Ann Patchett wrote. I love her writing, her characters, her storytelling. This book is read by the magical Meryl Streep and it’s such a joy to listen to.
Making: one more awesome idea from @willa.wanders @fodder.school journal: to keep a page of ideas for marks. I loved this idea as soon as I saw it on her YouTube channel and am so excited to build off of her ideas and add some of mine. So inspiring!
Making: my swatches for the limited palette I will use for @fodder.school I love the idea of keeping a journal for the experience. I bought the @willa.wanders set from @alittlecreative.me using the @renesanspolska watercolors. I then replicated those colors with acrylic and gouache and saw all the variety those colors could mix into.
Making: I woke up this morning and spent four hours making the fodder keeper which is the first project in @fodder.school #1 I love the way it turned out and can’t wait to fill it with fodder!! Thank you @tiffanysimplysharpe for the inspiration and all the detailed lessons!
Sketching: today’s house. I’m so grateful for Pinterest and all the artists who draw things that inspire me and teach me. I wish there was better tracing of source so I can see who I can attribute the original to.
