I will not keep talking about my car except to say it’s fixed and clean and I am grateful it’s all done.

I am not going jinx anything by saying I don’t want chores for June.

So I will just say tonight I’m grateful for a clean car and for climbing at an awesome new gym.

And we will leave it at that.

Yes to small steps.

I don’t know why some people are worriers whereas others just assume things will work out.

I also don’t know why I was placed in the former camp.

I spent the day worrying about the rat in my car, of course. And I am very grateful to report I managed to lure it out of my car.

The internet, once again, came through for me.

We parked the car in the sun all day, then I opened the door and quietly waited. It jumped right out of the car.

After a moment of disbelief I closed the car door and my neighbor and her kids and I watched as the rat scampered around for quite some time. In broad daylight!

Anyhow, the car is at the mechanic now and if hopefully nothing is wrong with it, the next step is to get the car detailed. Here’s hoping that’s all there will be to this saga.

But here’s the clincher. So did I get the rat out because I worried endlessly until I solved it or was my husband right to not worry because look it’s solved now ( cause I solved it!! )

It feels to me that it’s much better to be in the group of people who don’t worry non stop because life seems to always work out.

I wish I could be the non-worrier type.

But at least I got the rat out, so we’re calling it a win for today.

Yes to resilience and not giving up. Yes to rat-free cars!

Big boy started a new job today. Little boy started his summer plan. And I had my last off day before the new chapter starts at work tomorrow. Here’s hoping it’s the best one yet.

I am trying really hard not to add chores to my June days but the rat that appears to have snuck into my car might have other thoughts. Now I have to make a mechanic appointment.

Happy summer indeed.

Yes to doing what’s needed.

I never reread books. I always think that there are so many new ones to read, why would I go back to one I read?

I do sometimes rewatch movies but not very often.

Little boy rereads all the time. He gets joy from the comfort and familiarity of a story he knows and loves. Like a cozy blanket.

I used to get frustrated by that but I’m learning that there’s no one right way to be. Learning to release my ideas of right and wrong is a lifelong journey but the kids are definitely helping.

Yes to embracing who we are and embracing who others are too.

I finally managed to get through my other 13 items and it did feel good to get to cross off items from my list.

But the best part of today was getting to sit outside all day. After my morning exercise, I setup my journals, computer and food outside and did not go back inside all day except for bathroom trips and food. It’s almost 8pm and I am still sitting here and it’s just the right temperature.

Fresh air and sunshine are food for my soul.

Yes to summer and warm sunshine and fresh air.

Alas I didn’t finish my other 13 Todo list items, instead I read another book today.

And it was really good.

Today was the last day of school for the kids. We’re officially in summer break.

Here’s to endings and beginnings.

Yes to summer.

Tomorrow is Friday and I did two of the fifteen to do list items I had this week.

But I did read five books. I went climbing and I’m going to the movies. I exercised. I hugged my kids and hubby. I talked to my mom and my sister. I talked to my friend Kelly.

And there’s still tomorrow, maybe I can do the other 13 items then. Or maybe I’ll just read more.

We’ll see.

Yes to getting things done and yes to choosing to take a break.

I don’t have anything pithy today. Just thinking about how tired I am. I feel tired most of the day but the best tired is how I feel when I come back from the climbing gym or when I finish an exercise on the bike.

During those rare times I feel like I gave it my all and I have nothing left. And then I come home and take a shower and lie down on the couch and feel really good about how I used my time. This way I’m not tired because I’m overthinking things but I’m tired because I’m really working my body to its limits and I’m not in my head but I’m inside my body. For me it’s a rare and a good feeling.

That’s how I’m feeling right now.

Yes to trying harder. Yes to being inside my body.

And just like that little boy is now a seventh grader.

He started and ended his sixth grade year completely remotely. This year he learned a lot, wrote a lot, built several hardware and software programs, learned physics, did a complete SAT math book, and started learning Spanish.

He has not seen a single friend in person since last March. It’s been a long 15 months for little boy. If all goes well, he gets his second shot tomorrow and maybe, just maybe he might get to see some friends after two weeks.

I am very proud of his resilience and hard work in this last year. He continues to add sunshine to our lives every day.

We love you, little boy. Congratulations!

Yes to celebrating.

We are almost halfway through this year. My kids will finish school end of this week. And then we’re off to summer. Within two weeks we will all be two weeks past our second vaccination.

As we approach the second half of this year, it’s a good time to think about what else I want to say yes to this year. A good time to take stock and think about where to double down, where to pivot, and where to let go.

I think this is the perfect week to do some introspection and journaling. Bring it on.

Yes to taking time to step back and evaluate. Yes to resetting.

Grateful.

My ideal way to spend my day is by the water, with a cold coke zero, some delicious snack, and a great book.

My husband, on the others hand, prefers to go on adventures, push his limits and experience life.

As I get.older, I am realizing that I will hopefully be lucky enough to read books to a very old, ripe age. But my years of living life and going on adventures, especially ones that involve physical stamina will most naturally decline as my years incline.

So now is the time to follow my husband’s lead and make the time to life that life. Breathe the fresh air and swim in the sea.

I want to be braver with my life.

Yes to adventures!
