Your Displays of Love Make My Heart Sing

Journaling Reads:
Not in my wildest dreams could I have guessed how much you actually love each other. I am one very lucky mama. I love you!

I did this for the My Mind’s Eye October newsletter sketch. I rotated the sketch by 90degrees so the photos were landscape and not portrait. I combined two small photos to create the equivalent of a 4×6 and then used the bottom section to put all the colored papers I love. The shaped papers are cut off from the bottom strip (where it shows you the back of the paper.) I just layered them and sewed them haphazardly.

Your Smile will Never be the Same

Since I am a guest designer for My Mind’s Eye this month, I wanted to make sure to post a copy of each of my layouts here, too. These all use the amazing My Mind’s Eye products.

Journaling Reads:
I know new teeth will come out soon and your smile will be complete again. But it will still not be the same. It is just another sign of how quickly you’re growing up and it makes me sad a little bit. I love you so much and wish I could slow time down. 8.10

The manila folder behind his photo holds the three teeth he lost so far.

Anything to Get you to Put On a Hat

Journaling Reads:
You really like playing in the back yard but hate wearing anything on your head. David and I have been trying many things so our latest attempt was this fun hat he got at Google. You thought it was fun but only for a split second.

Journaling Reads:
David, before your little brother came along, I was hoping that you would like him and my mom thoughts you’d be jealous. But neither of us imagined how much you would love him and how nice you would be to him. Thank you my sweet son for being the best big brother ever.

When I first got the sketch, this is what I did with it.

Then I thought it was too blank and I added journaling and more stuff.

Journaling Reads:
My sweet, incredible boys, there are no words for the amount of joy, love and happiness you’ve brought into my life. You make the moments in every single day so much fun. You play, fight, share, hug, and laugh and I am regularly awed by the amount of love I feel just by watching you and being present. I love answering your questions and sitting with you and hugging you and seeing how your clever minds work. I can go on and on. You have made my life so much more full. I could never have imagined the amount of joy and I am thankful for it every single moment. i love you.

Then I still hated it and decided it wasn’t “me” so I did the one above. Which feels a lot more “me”!! 🙂

I Hope You Always Laugh and Conspire Together

I swear I don’t like sketches. They always stress me out. But for some reason, two months in a row now, the My Mind’s Eye Sketch Challenge immediately inspires me. I look at the sketch and I have ideas right away. Last month it was the punched background and this month, I looked at the sketch and I saw empty circles. Right away! I don’t even scrap circles, I have no idea what’s up with that.

Since I had some My mind’s eye goodies in my A Million Memories July Kit that were sitting right on my table, I decided it was serendipity.

I love this photo of my two kids together cause they look like they are laughing at an inside joke. They look like they are conspiring. And I deeply hope that they continue to be such good good friends forever.

I Can Never Thank You Enough

I know I said I was taking a scrappy break but yesterday I was on My Mind’s Eye’s blog and I saw this sketch and I never work from sketches but this one spoke to me and I had an idea immediately. So much so that even though I’d planend to do it this morning, I sat down and did most of it last night. Since my photo was landscape, I rotated the sketch clockwise by 90 degrees.

I made this layout to remember that David helps out a lot around here. With the food, diapers, cleaning, playing and anything else I might need. He’s a truly amazing little boy and I don’t thank him nearly often enough. So that in my weaker moments when he’s driving me insane, I can remember how amazing he is. And so he remembers that I do appreciate him. so very much.

All products except for the letters are My Mind’s Eye. I put my border punch collection to good use.
