Savor Project – 2014 – Spread Nine

This week’s all about the skiing in Tahoe. I scanned our badges from the trip and made a photo of them.

I also scanned their progress reports from the ski school and made a spread with them.

so grateful.

This week’s a mishmash. Some valentine’s leftovers, some fun one off photos I love, etc. I journaled about David’s day with his best friend and about being at the kids’ school.

Love that happy photo of Nathaniel.

Savor Project – 2014 – Spread Three

Spread three. Some journaling and a lot of photos. I still want to move this all around and play more but I can’t seem to find the time just yet. In the mean time I am chugging along.

Still loving this.

Savor Project – 2014 – Spread Two

Here is the second spread I have for the year. Some journaling and a lot of photos. I still want to move this all around and play more. I want some spot for weekly gratitudes and celebrations. I want to have some backup for weeks with fewer photos, etc.

I love having our family photo there.

Here is the first spread I have for the year. Some journaling and a lot of photos. I still want to move this all around and play more. I want some spot for weekly gratitudes and celebrations. I want to have some backup for weeks with fewer photos, etc.

Savor Project – Cover Page

Just a little post today. I wanted to share my cover page. I am still working on the pages for the beginning of the year. As I take fewer photos right after the holidays, it’s partly figuring out how all that will work. For now, here’s my cover page:

I have three different ones, maybe you can help me choose.

2014 – Savor Project Intro

I’ve been thinking a lot about The Savor Project and even though this project hasn’t fully worked for me for either of the two years, I am still not ready to give up on it. I love the idea of preserving our stories and savoring our moments. I love how it encourages me to take more photos. It even encourages me to do more with my family.

So I decided to give it one more try for 2014.

This time I have a slightly different plan. I am going to do the project fully digitally and then order an 8×10 Blurb book at the end of the year. If this works, I can do one each year.

I dug up my old week in the life templates I’d used a few years ago and adjusted them a little bit to come up with my spreads:

and the other way around:

and then one alternative look:

I am envisioning a spread per week but they can also be turned to single pages per week. The dates might disappear if I decide I don’t like the pressure but for now they are not bothering me. I can also put a wider range like January 2 to 15, so I have some idea of the duration but no pressure to do it with some specific regularity.

I don’t know if I will stick to these or change them completely. I don’t know if this whole idea will work or not, but I am going to give it a try.

I also plan to do my daily gratitudes (which will become weekly gratitudes) and celebrations as part of this project this year, as maybe extra enticement.

If you’d like a copy of the psd templates, you can download them here.

Here’s to another year of savoring.

The Savor Project 2013 – Looking Back

Well Savor Project didn’t go marvelously in 2013.

It started out well enough and I will say that I liked the single-page, 9-pocket option much better than the double 12×12 I used last year. But I noticed that I journaled a lot less, the journaling wasn’t meaningful and it became this project of printing photos. I don’t usually feel a need to print photos so it felt more like a burden than joy. It felt frustrating and chore-ish. I switched to digital about halfway through the year and that was easier but I am not sure it was any more meaningful so I ended the year with mixed feelings.

And they are still with me.

I am still grateful to have done all that I did and I am not ready to give up on the project in any way. But I know that I will be changing it for next year.

Here’s what’s on my mind for now:

  • It will be fully digital
  • This will mean I have to find some solution for ephemera
  • I will journal more, and more meaningfully
  • I will have to figure out what made it burdensome (and not as meaningful) this year so I can not do it.
  • Whatever solution I have will not require that each week be present so there will be no pressure

I will sit on this a bit more and then share with you my plans for 2014. As with 2013, we’ll consider it an experiment and see if it works and adjust and alter accordingly.

If you’re doing Project Life and have some tips or ideas you want to share, I would love that.
