Weekly Diary – November 30 2013

Here are some photos from this week:

Early this week, we got to see a bird show.

The birds rode bikes and skates and pushed shopping carts, it was super fun!

then Nathaniel decided he needed a crown.

sometimes he gets very specific and purposeful. He knows exactly what he wants and just gets it done. That’s what he did with this crown.

on Thanksgiving Day, we decided to put up our tree before our meal.

the boys really helped out this time. it was so much fun doing it together.

they did a great job balancing the tree.

they each had their own buckets and they didn’t get bored one time. They just kept at it until we were done.

and here it is. not a fan of that lens but alas.

then the boys went to play football out front.

some good teaching moments.

and then it was time for dinner. not the best photo but still….

my crazy boys.

nathaniel wasn’t up for smiling this week.

he wouldn’t even join in on the “we love” statements.

until we picked his, of course.

and then it was tickle time!

and here we go. so grateful for my life. i hope your week was lovely, too. Happy Thanksgiving!

Here are some photos from this week. Another week very low on photos. I am finally a bit better and now David has strep. It has been a challenging few weeks here. But, alas, that’s how it goes sometimes.:

Nathaniel making cards for his friend Emerson. I love watching how focused he is.

I can’t remember what we loved this week!

and a brief tickle time before the boys were too strong for us.

and here we go. so grateful for my life. i hope your week was lovely, too.

Weekly Diary – November 16 2013

Here are some photos from this week. I’ve been sick for two weeks so this week is very light on photos and the light here was too low all week so our family photos are quite terrible to boot. But, alas, that’s how it goes sometimes.:

Nathaniel was being Nathaniel this week. Jake loved how close his little eyes are in these glasses.

this week, we loved Seven Nation Army.

And Green Day.

and tickle time.

and here we go. so grateful for my life. i hope your week was lovely, too.

Weekly Diary – November 9 2013

Here are some photos from this week. Not too many this time around:

The night before Halloween, we were invited to a party where the boys wore their alternate costumes and I snapped some photos.

they loved posing.

except when i told them to sit still.

and then on actual Halloween, I snapped some with the real costumes.

they made sure to be silly there, too.

gangnam style of course.

and then the candy-collecting began.

the next day we began what I wanted our November project to be, which was inspired by Andrea Scher. Our little wish tree. The boys made the sign.

each made one side of it.

and here’s our tree with wishes hanging from it.

one of david’s: i wish we would have world peace.

one of mine: i wish my sister was my neighbor.

david: i wish i could be a scientist.

one of our neighbors’ daughter added her own drawing to the tree.

for this week’s photos David was feeling quite ill. This is the only photo where he’s laughing.

we took them anyway. this project is not about perfect photos. it’s about regular photos. which means they capture real life.

and here we go. so grateful for my life. i hope your week was lovely, too.

the boys also played mailman and delivered me (and jake and each other) lots of letters.

and wrote on their boxes.

and posed for me.

writing all the letters in the alphabet.

they even snuggled up when david was on the computer. I love watching them snuggle up.

and it was family photo time.

and here we go. so grateful for my life. i hope your week was lovely, too.

and makes us laugh out loud.

Weekly Diary – October 19 2013

Here are some photos from this week. Not too many this time around:

Jake’s cousin came to visit us with her daughter and we took the opportunity to snap some shots.

One more of us.

then it was family photo time.

i love that even if I take no photos all week, I still have these I can count on.

I love looking at them and seeing how much the kids have grown over the three years we’ve been doing this.

we love plants vs zombies number two!

and some tickling.

and here we go. so grateful for my life. i hope your week was lovely, too.

Weekly Diary – October 12 2013

Here are some photos from this week:

We decided it would be fun to go to the Chabot Space and Science Center but all the photos are pretty low quality because there was pretty much no light in there.

David experiencing the work astronauts have to do.

reading the instructions.

what it feels like at no gravity.

my little astronaut.

they also had some tables where high school kids teach you about different science concepts. This one was about pigments and ultraviolet light.

they really liked this part.

david was very curious.

and of course Nathaniel too.

David at no gravity, too.

begging not to go home.

they had a really good time.

then it was time for family photos.

and tickling.

and more tickling.

and here we go. so grateful for my life. i hope your week was lovely, too.

Weekly Diary – October 5 2013

Here are some photos from this week:

Nathaniel played with my watercolor pencils and a waterbrush this week.

he had quite a lot of fun with it.

we also spent some time putting out our halloween decorations.

i am not a fan of halloween (or anything scary) but the kids had a ton of fun.

skeletons, spiders and more.

i like this guy for some reason.

the boys always seem to have so much fun, it makes me so happy.

they posed while doing gangnam style.

and just had more and more fun.

we also got to go to a reading by Kate DiCamillo this week. It was so super-awesome. She is so super-awesome. Her books are super-awesome, too!

people often ask me what the kids do while I work. Well here you go. Nathaniel did this while I was working. Lined up all of his cars.

then it was family photo time.

love these boys.

they were being funny of course.

and cheering for the things we love.

and laughing.

and being more silly.

and more hugging!

and tickle time!

and here we go. so grateful for my life. i hope your week was lovely, too.

Weekly Diary – September 28 2013

Here are some photos from this week. A lot of these are taken with my new phone and I consider them of low quality but they still feature our memories and that’s what this is about after all:

Nathaniel and David playing in Nathaniel’s classroom. I just wanted to see if the phone can take decent indoor shots.

we then went to this place the kids call The Village in David’s school and this is apparently his hut. It was way way too sunny.

over the weekend, Jake’s brother, Clark, happened to be visiting us and so we decided go to the Computer History Museum. On the way down, we passed by Google campus and decided to stop and take photos with the Android statues. David insisted that I capture them with each. All the Android releases have dessert-y names. Kitkat is the new one.

Honeycomb.

ice cream sandwich.

eclair.

jelly bean.

gingerbread.

froyo.

cupcake.

donut.

donut, too 🙂

and the big android guy.

then we were finally allowed to go to the museum. I didn’t capture anything there except this where everyone was playing some video game.

and Clark and David playing Pong.

they had one of the Street View cars so Nathaniel got inside (which you were allowed to do.) and I snapped.

and here’s when I was getting the self-shots ready. I love this photo.

we’re yelling we love Fridays!

and tickle time!

and here we go. so grateful for my life. i hope your week was lovely, too.

Weekly Diary – September 21 2013

Here are some photos from this week:

much fewer this time around. this is Nathaniel with his “fort” he apparently insisted that Daddy take a photo.

so daddy obliged.

life with Nathaniel is never, ever dull.

it was also my 39th birthday. I had to go to work for a meeting and I came home to all these beautiful flowers and this card and candles.

the boys all sang to me and we each got to have a differently flavored cake.

the rest of the week flew by with almost no photos. I had a bunch of work. So Nathaniel spent some time with the Cuttlebug.

And then some family photos.

we cheered a bunch of things. I think many of them were video games.

clearly nathaniel and I got way more into it than the other two.

we ended with some tickling of course.

and here we go. so grateful for my life. i hope your week was lovely, too.

Weekly Diary – September 14 2013

Here are some photos from this week:

we were lucky enough to go to Martha’s Vineyard last week to visit with Jake’s family.

this was the kids’ first time so they spent a lot of time discovering the corners of the house and exploring everything.

and playing with their cousins.

and lots of opportunities for me to take photos. I didn’t bring my favorite lens for several reasons and regretted it a lot. I love my 85mm even if it’s not ideal for group shots.

we got to visit the Gay Head Light House.

the kids weren’t afraid of heights at all.

David loved being there.

and climbing all the stairs by himself.

at night we had sparklers thanks to Andee and the kids loved it (so did I!).

there’s just something magical about them.

David loved our youngest cousin and I must agree that he was just super sweet and cute.

the boys went rock-walking at the beach.

and explored the nooks and crannies between the rocks.

and were just super happy.

I loved watching from afar and taking photos.

and hoped they wouldn’t slip. Though Nathaniel did and managed to scar his face and lip within moments.

I hadn’t seen Jake’s brothers in so long, I snapped all the photos I could.

and this is wonderful Andee, married to one of Jake’s brothers. I wish I saw her more often.

Nathaniel liked climbing the trees.

this is another super-cute cousin. Isn’t he amazing? I could not snap enough photos of this little boy and he was so patient with me.

I’ve known this brother since he was fourteen; it’s so odd to see him with wonderful little boys of his own now. How quickly the time passes.

more of my favorite subject.

more climbing trees.

I love how these three are 2, 3, and 4.

David really wanted to go fishing so Jake took him and to everyone’s shock they even managed to catch some. David also went through the backyard and collected a whole bunch of bugs. Caterpillars, leaf catydids, daddy longlegs and more. He did release them all back into the wild a little while later because I couldn’t bear the thought that they might die in the jars.

and here’s all of us at once. I’ve been with Jake for almost twenty years now and looking at this photo makes me realize how big the family has grown and how wonderful everyone is and how really lucky we are. And how we need to do this much more often. So very grateful.

and then it was family shot time, of course.

and tickling too, surely.

and here we go. so grateful for my life. i hope your week was lovely, too.
