I know it’s getting tiring to read how tired I am but alas, I’m working hard right now so that’s how things are going to be. Little boy loves sitting at the table now (like his big brother) and playing with legos.
He’s been good about playing and not interrupting my work (though not much napping.)
big boy plays with the legos too.
and gives me smiles.
big smiles.
here’s one of those eyes-closed smiles I adore.
and one with eyes open.
here he’s signing “hat” (I often put the lens cap on my head to get his attention.)
the boys are in bed. My meetings are over. I have a few important chores tonight and then I plan to go to bed. Tomorrow and Thursday are back to school nights for the boys. Just taking it all one step at a time.
Three Things I’m Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that I got a sweet, little package today.
2. I am grateful that I am keeping up on my classes.
3. I am grateful that David made a friend at school.
Three Things David’s Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that I played with the geobands at school. * {his pick for the journal}
2. I am grateful that I played with my legos.
3. I am grateful that I read one of the books we got at the fair.
I am over-tired today so I will keep this short. Today was school for the kids and work work work for me. I tried to snap some photos of the little boy.
Who wanted to look at my sketch instead.
but I got some anyway.
And David was wrapped up in his blanket that his grandma made for him and spent time looking at ideas on the computer.
I am so tired so I will keep this brief, more tomorrow, I promise.
Three Things I’m Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that Jake’s back safe and sound.
2. I am grateful that despite the crazy, work appears to be under control. We’ll know more tomorrow.
3. I am grateful that both the kids seem to really be enjoying school.
Three Things David’s Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that I played with my new legos. * {his pick for the journal}
2. I am grateful that I played four square with my friends at school.
3. I am grateful that I got some computer-time.
And like always the weekend is gone before you can blink. A more hectic but still ok day here today. I managed to do my art and most of my todo list items. Though I still have a few but my inlaws were here all day so today was about family time.
The boys were very happy to have them here.
Especially cause they came with sweet presents.
Here’s Nathaniel waiting patiently for his grandma to read the directions on his new truck.
And David reading one of his new books.
Nathaniel playing with the crochet yarn. It’s his favorite thing to do.
He likes to play with them all, unwind them all over.
And now the kids are sleeping, my inlaws are back in their hotel and I am savoring the last few hours of my precious weekend. I am so wiped and exhausted that I doubt I will be productive but that’s ok. Sometimes it’s best to just veg and then go to sleep. I hope your weekend was wonderful and peaceful.
Three Things I’m Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that the kids had a lot of quality family time today. We went to David’s school and they played on the playground for a long time and laughed and laughed, it was lovely.
2. I am grateful that Jake’s coming home tonight.
3. I am grateful that even though this weekend was fuller than I prefer, I still got stuff done and I feel content and peaceful about it. (Though, of course, I still wish I had another day off!)
Three Things David’s Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that I got a new lego set. * {his pick for the journal}
2. I am grateful that we got some books at the book fair.
3. I am grateful that I got a nighttime diary.
It’s been a lovely Saturday over here. We started our day with sleeping in. Which means I woke up at 7am instead of 5:30. And then some exercise and shower and we were off to David’s swim class. After that we went and bought some fruit for the house and I was already wiped and cranky and wanted to spend the rest of my day in bed. So I read my book for a bit (and finished it) and then wanted to crawl into bed.
But instead, I did some art while the kids played and then Nathaniel napped and David played Wii and I did more art. Then Nathaniel woke up and I snapped some shots of my sweet boy.
Saying “hat” and you can see a bunch of his lunch on his sleeve.
I love this boy to bits.
And those huge huge eyes.
Then we went out to dinner with Jake’s parents and ended up at the bookstore where the kids played for a good hour. By the time we got home, it was a good hour past bedtime so I rushed the kids to bed and realized I’d forgotten to take shots of David so we ran downstairs and I snapped one.
He said he wanted to be goofy.
But I got a laugh anyway.
Nathaniel is already down and David’s going to sleep in minutes. My plan for tonight is to try and bind my second art journal if I think I can and then maybe maybe do a layout but I am guessing that won’t happen and I will just crawl in bed with my book instead. But I did ok today so I don’t feel bad about not getting the layout done. Tomorrow’s plans are all about Jake’s parents and the kids so we’ll see what I get done, if anything. But it’s ok, some days are like that.
Off to do more art. I hope your day was absolutely wonderful.
Three Things I’m Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that I did a few pages in my weeklong journal, I seem to put it off a lot lately so it was nice to give it some attention.
2. I am grateful that I feel caught up in Karen’s class. I did my vision board last night and it made me really happy.
3. I am grateful that Nathaniel is loving school. I got there a few minutes early today and he was sitting quietly and listening to the music teacher. He was so so cute. And I feel so blessed that he loves it.
Three Things David’s Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that we went out to dinner. * {his pick for the journal}
2. I am grateful that we went to the bookstore.
3. I am grateful that I had a Madeline cookie.
Happy Friday!! I am very glad to have reached the end of this week. It was another long one for me and I have a few more like this for a while. Today both kids went to school and I worked worked worked while they were off. Then I got Nathaniel and he napped and I worked some more. Then we went to get David and I wanted to snap some photos when we got back so I asked Nathaniel to smile for me. But he did this.
Then he looked at me and did it again.
I said “You can’t have food unless you give me a smile.” So I got this.
“Smile!” I said. So then I got this.
And then this. He was getting impatient and photos were getting blurrier so I gave up and let him have his food.
His brother was much more accommodating of course.
I just adore his eyes especially when he’s wearing a black shirt.
I am so ready for the weekend. I still have a bunch of todos like taking David to swim class, shopping for groceries and a visit from my inlaws. I have art journaling and layouts to make. Posts to write up. Etc. etc. But I still feel like I will have a lot of rest this weekend. So let’s bring it on!
Three Things I’m Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that I made it through week number two of fall. I do feel like maybe we’re finally getting into a routine so I am feeling more settled as I’d hoped to by now.
1. I am grateful I played which number will win at school with Tobias. * {his pick for the journal}
2. I am grateful that I finished my lego book.
3. I am grateful that I am reading my I want to be a Jedi book.
I am on mom and dad duty for the next two days so this morning I dropped David off and then got right to work. Nathaniel played and poked himself while I worked.
Then he napped, I worked, he got up and we went to pick up David. They got to watch a little bit of TV.
In exchange for veggies and photos.
Nathaniel’s been reading a lot.
I am assuming it’s cause David is reading nonstop lately. And of course he wants to be just like his brother.
He also likes to sit on his brother.
Give him some awkward hugs.
and more and more hugs.
I am so grateful that he loves his brother so much. It’s been really hectic over here. A lot of work. A lot. And tired from getting up at 5:30 every morning. Still sketching and art journaling but that’s pretty much it. I apologize for being behind on comments. I will catch up I promise.
Three Things I’m Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that I got my order full of new stencils by Julie, I cannot wait to play with them.
2. I am grateful that I feel calm despite having too much on my plate at the moment.
3. I am grateful that Jake traveled safe and sound.
Three Things David’s Grateful For:
1. I am grateful I got a new book from my school library * {his pick for the journal}
2. I am grateful that I played with Nathaniel.
3. I am grateful that I played bugs on board at school with Tobias today.
As I get used to my new routine, I haven’t found my groove with taking photos yet. Couple that with Nathaniel’s need to be cranky and we don’t get that many winners. Some from surprising him.
Many blurry ones.
Some as climbs on me, laughing.
and then I give up. With David, I just get these posed ones.
And the funny faces.
that’s the best I can do for now. That’s life. It will get better, I have faith. Just need to get into the flow again.
Three Things I’m Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that it was a busy but full day and I am not freaking out but trying to calmly stay on top of things.
2. I am grateful that I got a few more stencils. Hopefully arriving tomorrow.
3. I am grateful that while I am dropping some balls and falling behind a bit, I still feel ok and much much less stressed out than last week.
Three Things David’s Grateful For:
1. I am grateful for my star wars book (he’s been reading it nonstop for days now). * {his pick for the journal}
2. I am grateful that I read a chapter book at school.
3. I am grateful that I had PE today.
Today was a quieter day but also quite unproductive though I am not sure why. I woke up at 5:30 and exercised and journaled. I am not a morning person but I am starting to love these mornings and being up before everyone. Let’s see if I can become a full morning person this year.
Nathaniel was visibly bored today. I had so much work but I felt bad for him, too. He scribbled and wouldn’t look my way. He wouldn’t nap. He was just annoyed. He kept popping into my conference call, too.
He was super glad when David came home.
All he could do was run around so all I got were blurs.
and thankfully David let me snap one nice shot.
they’re eating dinner now and I am very very tired. I still hope to art journal tonight but let’s hope I get my second wind or I might just end up in bed.
Three Things I’m Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that everything went smoothly this morning. It was my first time dropping David off all on my own. Simple and smooth.
2. I am grateful that I am growing to love waking up early. I never ever thought that would happen.
3. I am grateful that I wrote two thoughts-posts today. I have a list I’ve been accumulating and I want to write more so I will make an effort to do 1-2 a week.
Three Things David’s Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that mommy and I drew a ninja face on a lego head. * {his pick for the journal}
2. I am grateful that i read my star wars lego dictionary.
3. I am grateful that I watched a little TV today.
Today’s my birthday. I turned thirty-seven. I don’t feel old. I actually feel like I might finally be growing into the age I’ve always felt like.
I started the day like any other, got up 5:45, exercised, took the kids to school, had some quiet time so I work, work, worked. Then picked up the little boy, he ate and napped and I worked. When he woke up he played, I worked.
I tried to sneak a few photos.
but he wasn’t very much in the mood.
I took what I could get.
then the big boys came home. David was in uniform.
They brought me flowers David picked and presents and a card.
since Mommy is trying to be healthier but still loves candles, we put one in a banana and the boys sang happy birthday to me.
and blew out my candle.
Then we all watched a movie together. And now the boys are going to bed. I feel so full. I love my ordinary life and despite the trials and tribulations, I am so so grateful for all that I have. Here’s to another wonderful year.
Three Things I’m Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that we had a lovely family time despite the school day and work day. A little of everything today.
2. I am grateful for the many many many messages on Facebook. I feel like my cup is overflowing.
3. I am grateful that I got to skype with my family, talk to my best childhood friend, a wonderful package from my friend Caroline and that work is also going ok. I am remembering to be grateful for big and small things today. For getting to live another year. For being healthy. For all the little and big bits of support. Thank you.
Three Things David’s Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that we watched toy story. * {his pick for the journal}
2. I am grateful that it’s mommy’s birthday.
3. I am grateful that I had chapel at school.
Today’s family shots were in the morning but we didn’t have much better luck. Nathaniel chased after the remote.
and when we said no, he was all drama.
feeling really sorry for himself.
by the time we managed to make him smile, David was eyeing the remote.
after one brief second, we just gave up and started tickle time. Today, we told David he could tickle daddy instead of the other way around and he went for it full force.
I still tickled the little boy.
but he quickly realized the other two were having more fun and started in on daddy as well.
both kids totally loved it. Daddy…not as much.
then Jake went to work, I did art, David played and Nathaniel napped. When he woke up he was all rested and pink.
he loves playing with legos.
and I love the little smile I caught.
Then Daddy came home and we went out to target to buy both kids some sticker books and we also bought a you-build Monopoly game for family night. So we got some food, and spent the night playing. It was a wonderful family time and both kids went down now and I have to check up on work to make sure all is ok but then I plan to relax during the last few hours of my weekend. Here’s to a great week.
Three Things I’m Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that we’re alive and healthy today. ten years ago we both worked downtown Manhattan, right near ground zero. We were both incredibly lucky to be at home right when the planes hit and I remember this day with deep gratitude every single year. We are lucky to be alive and I don’t want to take it for granted for one single moment.
2. I am grateful that for a few minutes today, the kids and I listened to loud music and they both danced.
3. I am grateful for a wonderful family night.
Three Things David’s Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that we played you-build monopoly. * {his pick for the journal}
2. I am grateful that i got a star wars lego encyclopedia.
3. I am grateful that I got to have half a cookie.
Last night we all seemed to have trouble sleeping. Maybe it was the walk late night or maybe not. Either way, Jake didn’t fall asleep for a long time, so when he was still sleeping and it was time for David’s swim class, I took him and tried to snap some photos, too. It’s hard to get good photos there and I’ll admit I didn’t try too hard.
then we came home, rested for a bit, did some art, etc, and it was time to take David to his birthday party. When we got home, we finally got to take the family photos. My boys were awesome.
David wanted Daddy to sit on him.
Both of the kids were in an off mood. Maybe cause it was a different time of day. Either way, this was the only good shot I got.
then David started making faces.
and Nathaniel started his meltdown.
making his body all rigid.
and whining.
we tried to make him laugh but it didn’t work. And david had lost total interest by now.
so we did the only thing we could.
yey for tickle time!
Now they are both down and I am exhausted. I had a shoot scheduled for tomorrow but it’s off and I am grateful. I need a whole day of nothing to do.
Three Things I’m Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that today went more smoothly than I’d hoped.
2. I am grateful that we have fresh fruit in the fridge again.
3. I am grateful that I have no scheduled obligations for tomorrow.
Three Things David’s Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that I watched daddy play mega zombies. * {his pick for the journal}
2. I am grateful that i went to a birthday party.
3. I am grateful that I played wii.
I’d tell you all about today but really it’s over. I worked. I worked. I worked more. That’s it. What’s good is this photo of my little boy:
who is cute as a pie. and still loves school so much that he doesn’t want me to take him home.
and wanted to get in the photo with his big brother.
and make him laugh.
and this boy who is also loving school.
and this girl who did a 5K walk today.
with all of these boys.
It was a long day. It’s going to be a busy weekend. But I am thankful for so so much this week. And I feel like I can tackle more now. Here’s to a great weekend.
Three Things I’m Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that we did the moonlight 5K as a family again this year.
2. I am grateful that I get two days off. I really need them.
3. I am grateful that I walked over 20,000 steps today, a new record for me.
Three Things David’s Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that we have the moonlight walk. * {his pick for the journal}
2. I am grateful that i found a car at school and got to keep it (after no one claimed it for two days).
3. I am grateful that I got a glow-stick at the walk.
