Art Journaling – Strathmore – It Starts with You

Here’s the next page:

The full text reads: It starts with you.

Here are some details from the page:

So after the last muddy page, I realized I just like white. Not that this should be shocking considering my layouts but for some reason, I kept thinking when art journaling I need to cover all the background with color. Which then makes all the other colors not true since blue on a yellow background is not the same as blue on white. So now I decided to use white for my backgrounds. I love so much of this. The colors. The stitching. The lettering. All of it. I feel like maybe I am slowly finding my way.

Art Journaling – Strathmore – Star of Your Life

Here’s the next page:

The full text reads: You are the star of your life. Own it. Make it matter. Start now.

Here are some details from the page:

Here’s the funny thing. I hate this page. It looks all muddy and the colors are not what I like, etc. But as it worked out, I showed it to my husband and he said the colors are all muddy and I totally agreed and that ended up flipping the switch that I’ve had for months for some reason and the very next day, I figured out how to create pages I love. Sometimes you have to do something you don’t like to realize what you do like.

They are coming starting Wednesday. I hope you like them as much as I do.

Here’s the next page:

The full text reads: You cannot love others until you love you.

Here are some details from the page:

I really really do not like this one but I want to post them all so you can see how I produce stuff I dislike and so I can track my personal progress. This page uses pan pastels, acrylic paint, watersoluble oil pastels.

Art Journaling – Strathmore – Thrive

Here’s the next page:

The full text reads: Dont just live: thrive.

Here are some details from the page:

Pan pastels, some acrylics, sequin waste, stamps, Tim Holtz stencil and some ink. Not a big favorite. These pages are just not speaking to me as much as I would like them to but I cannot put my finger on why. I do eventually figure things out a bit but it takes about 10 more pages for me to get there.

Art Journaling – Strathmore – The Whispers of your Heart

Here’s the next page:

The full text reads: You must get really quiet before you can hear the whispers of your heart.

Here are some details from the page:

I created this page at night but I wanted to videotape so you could see my process a bit so here it is, even though it’s dark and the camera kept slipping for inexplicable reasons. I am not a professional video-taper and have no desire to be right now so proceed at your own risk. The only thing I did before the video started was use yellow pan pastels to cover the background.

Here’s the next page:

Here are some details from the page:

I didn’t keep track of what I used for this page and I can’t remember now, I am sorry! I do know it was pan pastels and Crafter’s Workshop stencil (for the bird) and some white pen. If you have questions about anything specific, just leave me a comment and I promise I will respond.

Art Journaling – Strathmore – Be You

Here’s the next page:

The first thing I did for this week’s art journaling page was to use the dried-up baby wipes from the last two art journal pages. I cut hearts out of them and lay them on my page.

Then I colored the whole background with pan pastels and added some tissue paper. Some gaffer tape, a canvas shape (that i colored with pan pastels), a lot of stamping and here we are again.

i was out of the “e” and “o” so I substituted numbers instead. I stitched like crazy. The wings are old old old melody ross stickers.

on the upper right corner is a thicker with a bling and The Girls’ Paperie stickers that says “you love you.” Some stamping and a lot of stitching.

on the bottom right, i added a flower, stitched through the hearts, a bling heart, and my favorite stamp saying “be you.” And some leaves.

I like this one. It’s not my favorite but I like that I tried some new things.

And for your viewing pleasure, here’s a little movie, too:

Art Journaling – Strathmore – Dare to Take Risks

Here’s the next art journaling page:

For the background, I used mists. Like last week, I sprayed them on a baby wipe, and then rubbed it on my page. Then I glued some music paper and really pretty much built from there. I added more until I decided to stop.

Here are some details:

Here you can see: The map paper went through my border punch. I painted the blue heart using a Crafter’s Workshop stencil and pan pastels. Lots and lots of free form stitching.

Here: a little maya Road blossom, a Pink Paislee ticket, a tiny tag, and a small heart i cut out of map paper. More stitching.

here: you can see the other two hearts i cut out of map paper, the Maya Road heart canvas, Tim Holtz tissue paper. Some bling. Ribbons. And a lot more stitching.

See all that stitching?
