Art Journaling – Moleskine Sketch – Finished Book

And here we are. I finished the whole book. So I wanted to show you all the pages at once, just cause it looks neat.

You can also see them all and click on each individually here.

Here’s the finished book:

And finally, I made a little movie to show you the whole book, hope you like it.

I created art journaling pages daily for June (and maybe longer). You can read more about it and the book I am using here.

Weekly Art Journal – Weeklong for July 4

This weeklong page was originally inspired by this lovely painting. I created the tree with book pages and then did the leaves and painted the whole thing.

here it is the right way:

I wanted to keep this low key so all I did was to add writing and the dates.

here’s the left page:

And the right side:

And here’s the filled page:

I love this one too.

Daily Sketching – Week 16

Here are the sketches from this week.

Wednesday, I made this boy.

the next day, I did this quick but sweet elephant and mouse:

Friday I did this girl reading. i love it:

on Saturday I wanted to do something more involved so I did this angel. Nothing like the amazing original:

on Sunday, I did this cute mouse.

Monday was a quickie with the girl and birds.

Tuesday, I wanted to do this big scene but i messed up the proportions and ended up with the girl and just stopped.

and here we are. as always some are ok others not so great. let’s see what next week brings.

Art Journaling – Moleskine Sketch – Week 8

Here are some more journal pages.

This is a simple one just cause I didn’t want to draw after the last few. It’s using pan pastels and says “spread your wings.”

And back to drawing. Watercolor pencils, rubons, stamps. Says “Never fear. Everyone wants more friends. Reach out.”

I decided to go pretty simple for this one. Just a floating balloon. Used watercolor pencils. Says “do not let your dreams float away.”

And for the last page, I visualized a door but it didn’t quite turn out the way I’d hoped. It’s watercolor pencils as well. says “You get to choose the doors you open and close.”

And with that my little journal is finished. I will post a video and all the pages together next week. Thank you for letting me share.

Weekly Art Journal – Weeklong for June 27

This weeklong page was originally inspired by these lovely flowers. I love the happy color on this page. It’s all watercolors.

Since I did so little writing last time, I did a lot this week.

here’s the left page:

And the right side:

And here’s the filled page:

I love the simplicity of this week’s page.

Daily Sketching – Week 15

Here are the sketches from this week.

Wednesday, I made these trees. Nothing like the original, of course.

the next day, we were out all day so I did this scene. a quickie:

Friday I did this girl with the camera. not the best but it turned out ok:

on Saturday I went to my favorite sketcher, andrea, with this sneaker. Mostly cause I’d never done that style before. It came out ok

on Sunday, I did this girl. I just can’t seem to get these right.

Monday was this cute elephant. I love the original.

Tuesday, I changed it up a bit and drew just with colored pencils. The original is considerably better, of course.

and here we are. as always some are ok others not so great. let’s see what next week brings.

Catalyst 133 – The Only Recipe you need is to fill your life with Love and Laughter

Catalyst One Hundred and Thirty-Three is: Do you have a favorite or important family recipe?

My thoughts:
I thought a lot about this catalyst. My first hunch was to make it on mousse chocolat or gateaux salami, both of which my grandmother made for me each time I came to visit. It was her way of showing me how much she loved me and how much she missed me. But as the weeks passed, I decided I wanted to make this one about my family and the recipe of laughter and joy that these family photos have brought to me. I don’t cook so I will not be leaving my two sons any recipes for them to continue to pass down. But if I can pass down the power of laughter and joy as my recipe for a fulfilled and happy life and family, I will consider it a success..

This layout uses the new Vintage Vogue line from Pink Paislee. Since it’s a brand new line, I thought it might be fun to show more details than usual.

Art Journaling – Moleskine Sketch – Week 7

Here are some more journal pages.

This one didn’t turn out as I had hoped. It’s using watercolor pencils, crafters workshop templates, and inks. It says “there’s love and beauty in nature.” I wanted to use my own handwriting more. The tree trunk is too tall in my opinion.

The next one uses the paintstiks, Crafter’s workshop templates and stamps. It says “We accept the love we think we deserve.” It’s from The Perks of Being a Wallflower. A wonderful book.

The next one uses Pink Paislee tissue paper and templates and pan pastels. Very similar to the previous day but it was unintentional. It says “You can choose Joy.” I cannot read or write this one enough.

Then I started trying to draw a bit so the next few use watercolor pencils. This one says “It’s ok. You can rest awhile.”

And this one took forever and still didn’t turn out the way I wanted. It says “show your colors to the world.”

And that’s the five for this week. More coming next week. Thank you for letting me share.

Weekly Art Journal – Weeklong for June 20

This weeklong page was originally inspired by this awesome piece of art.

here’s a sideways look:

and the real one:

I kept the writing short each day cause I didn’t want to interfere with the art.

here’s the left page:

And the right side:

And here’s the filled page (sorry for the blurry photo, I kept trying but couldn’t get something better):

I like how it’s vertical instead of horizontal.

Daily Sketching – Week 14

Here are the sketches from this week.

Wednesday, I made this bird. I like how it turned out.

the next day, I did this vintage woman. I loved how it turned out, too:

Friday I did this yoga girl. I’d tried to draw her before but it was considerably worse than this attempt. Even here her head is too small and the hair is bad but still it’s a better one than I could’ve done before.

on Saturday I did a simple manga one. Mostly cause I’d never done that style before. It came out ok

on Sunday, I did the this girl. Another so-so attempt.

Monday was a family day so I did a real quickie one and I don’t like the way it turned out. The original is so much better. But at least I made an attempt. I am so sorry that I don’t have a link to the original, pinterest is really really being difficult and won’t show me my whole board. I will link back as soon as I can find it again. (found it!)

Tuesday, I picked another girl.

and here we are. as always some are ok others not so great. let’s see what next week brings.

Art Journaling – Moleskine Sketch – Week 6

Here are some more journal pages.

I wanted this one to be super dark to symbolize dark/night etc. It’s actually much darker in person and it’s hard to show all the various texture it has. It mostly uses the shiva paintstiks and then some acrylics and stamps on top. It says “look for the light.”

Here’s a little closeup:

The next one uses the Pink Paislee tissue paper and Crafter’s Workshop templates and pan pastels. Says “If you want to receive you must first give.”

This one has all my happy colors. It uses pan pastels, chalk ink, and butterflies I cut off from a Little Yellow Bicycle paper. It says “It’s ok to fly away from the flock.”

This might be my all-time favorite page. I love the color and the sentiment and it all came to me while I was lying in bed and I am glad I remembered it in the morning. It says “We are all connected through love.” It uses the watercolor pencils.

And finally the last page went through multiple iterations. It uses Shiva paintstiks and some templates. It says “fill your home with joy, peace and laughter.” It was first like this:

Then I added a lot of stamps and rubons for some extra layering:

And finally it bothered me that the circles were even numbers so I made the left page 7 and the right one 5.

And that’s the five for this week. More coming next week. Thank you for letting me share.
