Weekly Intention: And here we are! First week of school! I can’t believe the summer is over. It feels like just yesterday it was the beginning of summer. I now have a 3rd and a 7th grader. They are both at the same school again and I am both excited and a bit anxious as I always feel during new beginnings. There is so much I don’t know. All I want this week is to be there for my kids. To support them with whatever they need. On a personal note, I’d like to be done with my big task at work so I can feel it’s off my shoulders.
Things I want to get Done: Here’s the list for his week.
- Work: clean email. ( this is sadly always on the list.)
- Work: blog post.
- Work: maybe more tickets to Seattle.
- Work: Be done with packet, send and upload.
- Work: create the darn dashboard.
- Work: get deck ready and milestones done.
- Personal: exercise 6/7 times.
- Personal: continue eating clean.
- Personal: cash check!
- Personal: Journal regularly.
- Personal: Do mapmaker #6
- Personal: Continue with the new scrapping/storytelling system.
- Family: help kids ease into school.
- Family: make plan for David.
- Family: go to school on Monday.
- Family: take photos!
This month’s intention is: August: Shine from the Inside Out: Ok you did the outside in and now it’s time to reflect again. The year is half over. How are you doing? What are you keeping on the inside? Also, it’s time to let others see the real you. Don’t be afraid. Shine. This is the last week. Let’s see what more I can do here!
Ways to Shine this week:
- One: Bold: Show up at the school. Mingle, do small talk. This is super scary/bold to me 🙂
- Two: Open: Open to the possibility that everything will be okay. It will all work out.
- Three: Heal/Nourish: I plan to change up my afternoon snack this week. Be better with my choice. and get back on the wagon for skin and body nourishing.
I am looking forward to: school and our new routine.
This week’s challenges: school and our new routine 🙂
Top Goals:
- Work: book more tickets to Seattle, finish packet , do dashboard.
- Personal: exercise+food+journaling.
- Family: school!
I will focus on my core desires (bold, mindful, nourish, love) by: supporting my kids as they transition this week.
This week, I will say yes to: having faith.
This week, I will say no to: pessimism.
I am worried that: i won’t exercise. i’ll stop eating well. kids will be unhappy with their schedule, class, school. Nathaniel will not adjust. Packet will be a disaster. I’ll get noting done. New schedule will mean I miss the 8am classes. Things will fall apart.
This week, I want to remember: i’ve transitioned before and I will make it all work.
How I shone this week: This week was an adventure. It’s not like me to go into the unknown the way I did this week and I am proud of myself for that. I am proud that I showed up, all of us worked together to make all this possible and the adventure was one of a kind. I feel wonderful about it.
Things I wanted to get Done:
- Work: Behind in email again of course. Bought tickets to Seattle but didn’t do the blog post. Almost done with September but still needs one final read. No work on dashboard, did the email.
- Personal: Exercised 6 times this week in 4 days. Ate pretty clean, did quite well when away. Journaled very little and am still working on mapmaker 5.
- Family: we had fun! were open minded!! went to Nathaniel’s orientation, David had none in the end. Prepped for school and took a ton of photos!
I celebrate: our adventure!
I am grateful for: this wonderful summer. my family. my boys, and my husband. so much my husband.
I nourished myself by: spending a lot of family time!
Reflecting on my worries: i managed to exercise and ate reasonably well while away. eclipse was amazing!!! didn’t fall off the wagon at all. nothing went wrong.
I let go of: certainty.
Core Desire Check-in (bold, mindful, nourish, love):
- bold: i was bold about our adventure.
- mindful: mindful that school is about to start which is both good and bad. i like routine but getting into it will be tricky. also that nathaniel is going into a new school and will need help transitioning.
- nourish: as we transition into fall, i want to be creative with the foods i will eat.
- love: i love how much gratitude I’ve been feeling lately.
What made me laugh this week: lots of family time with Jake’s sister in law and laughter in the car, too. Amazing how much we didn’t fight considering we were in the car for 30+ hours this last weekend.
What I tolerated this week: a lot of car sleeping.
My mood this week was: awed.
I forgive myself for: being tired.
What I love right now: i love how full I feel right now (mentally, physically and emotionally) in a good way.
Here’s to a great week 35.

I read the Epiphany Machine in one sitting. It was a weird premise and I wasn’t sure what I was going to think about it, but I liked it.
I then jumped to the very short Hunch which I also read in one sitting. It was thought provoking and as short as I’d like my nonfiction to be :).
I then moved to Becoming Wise which was delightful. Like a dessert to be savored. I have two more chapters left here but I wanted to slow down so I moved to another book.
I am now reading Readymade Thief which I am really enjoying so far. I am scheduling this pretty early so we’ll see if I finish anything else in the meantime.
So grateful for books.
Books I Read this Week 2017 is a year-long project for 2017. You can read more about my projects for 2017 here.
Mind:
- I read: It’s been a quiet week for reading. I’ve had long days and there’s been a lot of bad news so I’ve been watching CNN vs. reading, which is not great for my well being.
- I learned: I’ve been doing Stephanie’s Map Maker class still! And looking for a new courageworks class, too I think.
- I watched: Still only one hour of TV this week, besides all the CNN.
Body:
- Exercise: Another week of exercising!! I’ve been trying to introduce a new class each week, this week I did a CXWORX class which was ok but it was my third that day so I was exhausted.
- Monday: Body Pump
- Tuesday: Body Pump
- Wednesday: Sculpt and Core, Mat Pilates, and CXWORKX
- Thursday: gBarre
- Friday: Body Pump Express and Mat Pilates
- Saturday&Sunday: resting all weekend
- Food: I’m also introducing a new food each week. This week it was to be radishes but I might be allergic to them because they burned me like crazy.
- Veggies I had: butternut squash, spaghetti squash, eggplants, zucchini, celery, cucumbers, broccoli rice, brussel sprouts, kale and spinach.
- Protein: chicken breasts, ground buffalo, meatloaf, and eggs.
- I am still not hungry between meals. But i am still eating my chocolate and I will say I’ve been having a bit more than usual.
- No coffee for six weeks now. Not craving it.
- All the others: I’ve been flossing nightly, taking my vitamin C, and putting cream on. I’ve used my face masks a bit and like my new side sleeping earplugs.
Soul:
- I rested: Still sleeping strong unless I drink after 7pm. If I wake up to go to the bathroom it ruins my evening so I really need to not drink after 7pm.
- I connected: Connected with an old friends at work this week which was great.
- I journaled: I journaled a bunch! not as much as i would like but still!!
- I made art: I did parts of my mapmaker homework!
So grateful for my progress, here are some more shots from instagram.

We’ve been taking family photos for over 7 years now and I am so very grateful for them. They make my heart swell each time. Lately, I’ve been asking Jake to take photos of me with the kids, too. And these are quickly becoming my favorite because Jake always makes us laugh. There is so much laughter and joy in these photos and the gratitude I feel when I see them is endless.
Thank you my wonderful husband!
