Sakura Season, Tokyo, Japan
Each year, for about two weeks during April, cherry blossom season, or sakura as it's called in Japanese, visits Tokyo. I was lucky to be in Japan for this delightful color shower. On the way over to work, I pass this little street which is covered with trees. Normally I walk right along the street, without paying much attention to my surroundings. But I can honestly say that during cherry blossom season, I had to stop and take a moment each time I passed the street. Nature is meant to be appreciated. During the weekends, Jake and I went to sit on the sidewalk of the same street. We would watch the trees, snack and chat. Even the monstrosity of architecture that I called my office building appeared more pleasant during those two weeks. |
